Your car key battery dying can be frustrating, luckily replacing them is simple when you know how to. Follow this guide to learn the simple steps that go into replacing the battery in a BMW CAS4 key fob.

Items needed:

  • Flat tool e.g. watch knife or flathead screwdriver
  • CR2450 battery

Step 1.

Using a flat tool such as a watch knife or a flathead screwdriver, remove the back panel of the key fob. You can remove the key to make this a little easier, this is achieved by pressing the button next to the gap as shown to release the key.

Step 2.

Once the back plate is removed, use your flat tool to get underneath the battery and pop it out of the casing, ensuring that you don't damage the key fob.

Step 3.

Place the new CR2450 battery into the battery compartment with the positive (flat) side facing up. Make sure that the battery is fully in the compartment.

Step 4.

Clip everything back together and test the key fob to make sure it is working.

It's as easy as that! Hopefully, your BMW key fob is now functioning as it should and can put your mind at ease.
